Mile High City South?

One solution to the flooding that New Orleans recently experienced after Hurricane Katrina hit, was proposed by our friends at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). They say that if a structure sustains damage that is over 50% of its value, it must be raised to a new, as yet unannounced, “Base Flood Elevation”.

This means that structures may have to be raised from a few feet higher than they were, to many feet higher than they were. At first this seemed like a good idea to me. Of course after I pondered this further, I realized that there is a better solution to this problem.

All FEMA has to do is give the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (UACOE), the designers and builders of the levees surrounding New Orleans my suggestion…

…BUILD LEVEES THAT DON’T FUCKING BREAK WHEN WE NEED THEM MOST!!

Later.
